Easy Decorating for Thanksgiving

Vintage Italian Pottery

Home for the Holidays

Thanksgiving is coming and that means family and friends visiting!

Giving your home a Fall make-over can be as easy as adding a few items in the colors of the season.

A warm welcome is a good start.

Place a pretty pitcher or vase filled with chrysanthemums or other flowers in your entry way. Picking a container that echoes the colors of the flowers adds impact! This mid-century vintage Italian red clay pottery vase came from a little Italian village many years ago. It has a rustic charm that begs to be displayed.

To really step up your foyer’s wow factor replace the typical mirror with a wonderful piece of art. This charming still life evokes an autumn evening with the tangy scent of peeled oranges and the sweet promise of glossy chestnuts displayed against a warm background. You can almost smell the crackling fire.

One of the most important rooms during the holidays is where everyone gathers for meals.

A beautiful set of candle sticks or a vibrant console set add elegance and fall flavor to your table.

These elegant candle holders have an amber foot, crystal clear air twist stem and amber cup at the top to hold the candle. Perfect for taper candle holders and a beautiful addition to your holiday table.

This vibrant Amberina Satin glass console set by Tiffin brings in all the fall colors of red, orange and even yellow.

Add a seasonal tablecloth and voila – tasteful holiday décor accomplished!

1950s Embroidered Tablecloth
This cottage chic cream heavy slub-weave cotton tablecloth embroidered with green and brown pine boughs and pinecones in orange and brown would be a lovely addition to your table.

 What about the Family Room?

Retro 70s Afghan Throw
A colorful throw on the couch and a beautiful bowl on the coffee table bring a fresh look with minimal effort.

Classic 70s earth tones make this a handmade afghan a great find for your vintage home and a cozy place to cuddle up watching the Macy's parade and  the inevitable football games.

This beautiful Italian art glass bowl  is a golden amber in the center and a beautiful burnt orange along the rim giving it the look of an autumn leaf.

Let’s not forget the room where everyone seems to gather to chat - the kitchen!

These red shakers, part of the Poppytrail line produced in 1956 by Metlox of California are an easy way to spice up your kitchen.

Or fill an autumn themed bowl with apples for décor with function.

This early Roseville Imperial I console bowl.
features an embossed woodsy design with a vine and leaves. The colors include several shades of green and soft browns making it a perfect fit for fall decor.

And since everyone will be snacking, carry on the theme with seasonally colored glasses and serving pieces.
